Ms. Domonique Iannuzzi—or Ms. Domo—moved to Michigan with her family from San Diego at a young age to join the rest of her family here and has been a Michigander since. Growing up attending a Montessori school from the toddler age through 5th grade, and now a Montessori teacher, BBA children have come to know Ms. Domo as warmhearted, patient and a genuine source of unconditional love and care. Domo is undoubtedly a representation of why families choose the Montessori path for their children. When Ms. Domo was invited back to visit and help at her Montessori, she realized the connections she was building and guidance she was providing to children, now in her former school, felt natural and rewarding, and in so doing experienced her first ah-ha moment, and decided to pursue teaching as her profession. The more she was called on and asked for by children and her team, the more she recognized her innate abilities to help children enjoy their work, gain from their work, and cultivate independence. She often, with a glow in her eyes, talks about how deeply and uniquely special it is to see growth in children as they develop a command for language, form a personality, and accumulate more and more essential skills and nuanced interests. To be a part of a child’s growth and development is Ms. Domo’s Why, to witness it and add to it, makes working with children unlike any other profession. When she is not at BBA, Ms. Domo enjoys practicing and viewing art around the Metro area and on her travels. Being with family and friends is her number one priority and joy in life.
